go4it Web Services - Web Server Upgrade

The Linux OS on the go4it Web Services hosting servers will be upgraded in the next few weeks:
- from: Slackware 11.0 -> to: Slackware 12.0
The immediate benefit is that the following major web server programs will also be upgraded:
- from: Apache 1.3.37 -> to: Apache 2.2.4
- from: PHP 4.4.7 -> to: PHP 5.2.5
- from: MySQL 5.0.24 -> to: 5.0.37
While there are no performance issues with the current configuration there are potential PHP compatibility issues that may become apparent after February 5, 2008. That is the date the goPHP5 initiative has set as a target date for web hosts to move from PHP4 to PHP5.
PHP5 is included in Slackware 12.0 along with the other changes listed above. Minimal disruptions to go4it Web Services hosting availability are expected during this upgrade. Members will be notified by email of the exact date of the upgrade.
